4/5 Somerville to Navasota
Left Somerville SP and drove the 36 mi back to where the riding started in Burton. I took the motor home to Navasota City Park, our camp spot for the night. Once again, warm, but overcast day. Many fancy ranches - horse & cattle. Rode from Buton thru Long Point, gay Hill, Independence, Wm Penn, Washington to Navasota. Independence was the original site of Baylor Univ. - now in Waco? One of Sam Houston's home sites was here also. Again they stopped for ice cream - 1 pint for Russ and 1 for Mike. This never happens when I am riding - I seem to get the towns that have nothing open. Wm Penn/Wm Penn road was a beautiful and peaceful ride thru the country. Reached camp and Dawn had lunch ready and was preparing for a store bought roasted chicken dinner. This was Sue and Bob's last night w/us.
