Blanco to McMahan, TX 4/2
We rode from Blanco through Wimberley, Kyle, Uhland, Lockhart and to McMahan. Dawn and Mike rode the tandem 41 miles through rolling hills. Very light sprinkle and very humid! Denise rode the 2nd half of the day. The afternoon ride was flat, hot/humid, no sun & windy. Sue & Mike took a wrong turn which gave them some extra miles. We stayed at Lake Falling Star RV Park. A very nice, family oriented park. Bob volunteered Russ & Mike to fix a $5 garage sale bike that belonged to the RV park owners son. Bob thought all they'd be fixing was a flat tire, but the chain was so rusty they could hardly remove it. The mom had all kinds of bike parts in the park store, so after several hours, they had the bike up and running. Update on Russ' acquisitions - besides bungi cords, deer antlers, license plates, a hold alignment tool, a back saw, a box end wrench, a foam bottle holder, he picked up a 20 oz. hammer. Mike made me remove things to cut back on weight and therefore add to mileage. Guess it's a good thing I did as Russ is adding to the weight. We have been riding across Texas for 16 days and it feels like it will never end. The western side was dry, dusty and windy. The middle was the hill country. Some steep climbs, but not mountains and now we seem to be in much flatter ranch land. It is green and the wild flowers along the roadsides are beautiful. It's still windy most afternoons and in the 80's and humid.
