March 3rd - Live Oaks to Seeley

March 3rd – Guys rode from Sacred Rock thru several small towns. They had their first sighting of the USA/Mexican border fence. There was a 12 mile, 6% grade, downhill. Started out at 41 MPH when severe side winds slowed them to between 8 & 10 MPH. In Ocotillo, pop. 246, they met a couple from Alaska, riding self-contained from San Antonio to San Diego. The temp was 70-75. Rode thru Plaster City (United States Gypsum) plaster board mfg. Only facility there; hence the name.

Spent the night between Seeley & EL Centro at Sunbeam lake Resort. Swam & played volleyball in the pool. Played bingo – I won $8.50. Now we know what the “old” retirees do. Don’t think we are quite there yet. I did see a name on a trailer there that was the same as some people I started babysitting for when I was 10 – Howard & Jeanne Day. It really was them! Russ continues to keep Mike in hysterics and, of course, he enjoys one-upmanship. They rode 50 miles.
