Palo Verde to Quartzsite

March 5th-Ride thru Palo Verde, pop 600, - Ripley – pop 300, Blythe pop 12,000+. Blythe is the last town in CA before crossing the Colorado River into Arizona. Ended the ride in Quartzsite pop 3350, but swells to over a million in Jan/Feb when they have people come from all over for their rock/jem shows. Most of the towns are farming communities. The scenery is much like Eastern Washington only w/palm and eucalyptus trees and small mountain ranges. Many people dry camping (free) in the desert. There is a truck that comes around w/water and another that lets you dump your trailer. Not much here except that gas is around $2.65 instead of the over $3 in most of CA. We have decided to sample a different Ben/Jerry’s ice cream at each stop & rate them. The 1st was Mission to Marzipan – Not so great.
