March 7th - Raining! Overcome & Adapt! Raingear is a must today. Tonopah to Tempe - 70 miles. Downpours and wind all day. Rode to Tempe instead of Mesa because of the weather. Phoenix area another stressful city ride. Will have to ride the 20 miles to Mesa in the next few days before moving on. Stayed al Valle De Oro RV Park where friends Dick & Elaine Galusha have been spending the winter.
March 8th - We had a great dinner prepared by Elaine and tried 2 more B&J ice creams - Imagine Whirled Peace (that's for you Bob H) and I think the other was called NY Chocolate something. This was a day off from riding. Thank goodness as it was yet another cool, rainy day. Had the motor home serviced. The hot water hasn't been working. That is until Mike was at the RV place and when he flipped the switch, it lit right up.

Now I know where Tim gets his banana fixation.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to read about your ride, but I think I'll let Tim give me the regular updates. I'm responding to this one though because I've always wanted to imitate the Little Feat song and go from "Tehachapi to Tonapah". You guys got awfully close.
One final note, how often do people comment on the baldness of your tires? I remember that as one of the most common remarks when I took long tours (after: "Where are you going?" "Where did you start?" and "How far do you go each day?")
Enjoy the ride,
Jim Starrs
I think Jim & I must have tried to post our comments at nearly the same moment, because my first attempt returned an error, then there was his note!
ReplyDeleteFirst - Isn't it "Adapt & Overcome" (at least that's what Clint said in Heartbreak Ridge!).
Second - About your H2O heater: when was the last time you had your propane line pressure checked? Remember how ours kept cutting out? It was because the gas pressure was too low... So, if you continue to have intermittent gas problems (as in the propane, not from all that Ben & Jerry's), you might have the line pressure checked.
Third - I don't know why the route line doesn't always show up on the maps I'm posting for you guys. I have emailed Google tech help... I'll fix it if I can. Love you guys - we're having fun following this!
Lady linda: I am anxious to read something everyday not just every 3rd day even if is only about Mike's banana. It seems like a lot of fun and it only happens once in a life time.
